Founded in 1898 on the site of a former iron factory, Orrefors began by producing glass for dishes and technical and medical usage. In 1914, under the guidance of a new owner, Orrefors shifted its focus to making and designing crystal for intricate objets d'art. Handblown glass has thus been produced in this part of Sweden for more than two and a half centuries. From then on, Orrefors began manufacturing new collections using a younger generation of in-house designers.
