Fluid bands of rich color give a hand-painted, abstract watercolor quality to the massive solidity of the Tempera bowls. "For me, creativity takes place in the blowing room. This is where glass is conceived, where it is fashioned and comes alive. I want to work with the glass, not against it. In my desings, I try to follow along with the melt - with the sheer power of the glass - and at the same time identify the simple and the subtle. The aim is to freeze a moment in time, to capture an expression and give it artistic form - to transform hot into cold." When we say a piece of Kosta Boda is handmade, we mean it literally. Glassmaking at Kosta Boda is both wonderfully old-fashioned and perpetually a new world-each design a collaborative work of art between our designer artists and our glassmaker artists. The first hires at the new glassworks of Kosta in 1742 were skilled glassblowers, for it was their talents and experience that made all the difference in the end products.
