Royal Doulton Bunnykins Giftware
Description:
Fine China World-Famous Bunnykins Design Great Baby Gift and/or Keepsake Giftboxed 70 Years Old and Still Going Strong...In 2004, Bunnykins Nurseryware celebrated its 70th Anniversary and continues to be one of the world's oldest, most beloved and best-selling Nurseryware ranges. The story of Bunnykins begins in 1934 with Sister Mary Barbara (Barbara Vernon). A young nun in an English convent school, she imagined and illustrated the exploits of the Bunnykins family to entertain the children in her class. Her father, Cuthbert Bailey, who happened to be the manager of Royal Doulton's Burslem pottery in Stoke-on-Trent, recognized the potential of combining her drawings with children's plates, bowls and mugs. And thus... Bunnykins Nurseryware was born! Unfortunately, her commitments at the convent only allowed Sister Barbara to produce Bunnykins drawings for a few years. However, Walter Hayward, one of Royal Doulton's Art Directors, took over creating Bunnykins drawings after World War II. Today, in addition to Nurseryware, the Bunnykins range of products contains gifts and nursery accessories like frames, clocks and banks -- making it one of the most popular collections among children, parents and grandparents around the world.
