In 1923, Winnie the Pooh made his first appearance in a poem titled "Teddy Bear" which was written by noted playwright and journalist, AA Milne and published in Punch Magazine. In 1926, AA Milne's first stories about Winnie the Pooh were published and the book was an instant success. In 1966, Disney released the first Winnie the Pooh featurette "Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree." Eleven years later, in 1977, Disney released "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" -- the first feature-length animated Winnie the Pooh film. Winnie the Pooh is now a world famous bear, with AA Milne's stories about Pooh and his friends having been translated into 31 different languages.
