Wedgwood Ulander Powder Turquoise Dinnerware - RETIRED
Description:
Wedgwood UlanderFine Bone China accented in 22 karat GoldYou can wash your Ulander tableware by hand or in a dishwasher, warm it gently in the oven to 100°C, and even put it in the freezer. Take care when washing, stacking or taking out your fine bone china not to scrape or knock one piece against another; and avoid sudden changes in temperature. This prestigious pattern was introduced by Wedgwood in around 1900 and was used as the White House service of US President Theodore Roosevelt. The powder finish originated in China, where craftsmen used to blow powdered dye through a silk screen at the bottom of a bamboo tube. By 1912, Wedgwood had found a way of laying a ground of solid colour, then stippling it with a fine-grained sponge to achieve a similar effect, so the rich ‘powder’ band of colour was added to Ulander. The same painstaking technique is used today. Wedgwood now produces Ulander principally for traditional afternoon tea. However, this is such a glorious pattern that, mixed with classic white, just a few pieces will add style and elegance to the dinner table. Wedgwood manufactures quality ceramics combining sophisticated classical contemporary design with highly skilled craftsmanship and the highest standards of quality. The company's main sales markets today include the UK, Japan and America. Wedgwood is quintessentially English. It has a tradition of innovation, quality and craftsmanship and its designs are widely acknowledged as timeless, elegant, classic and understated. The Wedgwood design teams also work with external designers for cross-pollination of ideas and experience. The company has established exciting design partnerships with fashion designers, Jasper Conran, Vera Wang and artist Robert Dawson to develop contemporary and stylish ranges that appeal to the younger consumer. Today, Wedgwood is known throughout the world for the quality of its products and its rich heritage.
